PSG Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening trophy on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
