Much like bad weather swept through the north-west the prior day, the home side swept United aside at the their home ground. It was a statement three-nil triumph for Andrée Jeglertz’s side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their championship potential as they reinforced their place at the WSL pinnacle.

Back-to-Back Setbacks for United

This result represented consecutive Women's Super League defeats for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, leaving them a significant margin off the table toppers with their title hopes hanging by a thread.

United’s ability to juggle domestic and continental football with a small team has been a frequently analyzed subject since they qualified for the UCL. Previously unable to defeat any team who finished above them the previous campaign, Jeglertz’s side now have successes against the Gunners and Manchester United to put them in a strong situation after nine matches.
